‘Inspired by IDA’ accreditation

By | Training

We are so proud that The Nottingham Hearing Practice has been awarded the”Inspired by Ida” status for embracing the ethos and standards of the IDA Institute.

The NHP is one of the first clinics in the UK to acquire Inspired by Ida status and the institute has asked Jo to write a short story about our practice and why she chose to join the programme. She was thanked for choosing to work with the IDA institute in advancing a person-centered approach to hearing care.

The clinic badge is awarded to any practice where 80% of the staff have done the personal courses, which me and Alan both have. So the red badge is the most important one!

Jo completes an IDA Institute course on Patient-centred care

By | Training

Those who earn the Person-Centered Care badge have a thorough understanding of the different aspects of person-centered care and how person-centered care differs from the traditional biomedical model. Most importantly, they understand what it means to practice person-centered care with their clients through empathy and active listening.

Another Tympanometer purchased by The Nottingham Hearing Practice

By | Technical, Training

The very latest tympanometer has been tested and now ordered. It allows us to check middle ear function quickly and without fuss. The tip is placed into the entrance of your ear canal. You will feel a very gentle, almost imperceptible pressure build for about 2 seconds, and that’s it.

We are confident that we are again the only hearing care practice in this area to include free middle ear screening to every patient we test.

Highest quality ear wax removal service

By | News, Training

Here at the Nottingham Hearing Practice we have a wealth of experience in ear wax management, its removal and associated problems. Being able to access two of Nottingham’s most experienced and respected audiologists means you can be assured of a safe and effective ear wax removal procedure.

Micro-suction is generally seen as the safest, most effective way of removing an ear wax blockage, however it is not always possible to achieve this with micro-suction alone. We are trained in all disciplines of ear wax removal whether it be via micro-suction, irrigation and or instrumentation and we allow longer appointment slots for our procedures.

On initial inspection of your ears, we can usually determine what the best way forward will be for you. Ear canals vary dramatically from person to person, variance in shape, size and direction must be considered as should the nature, density, type and volume of wax present. Sometimes post-wax removal, we can find an underlying infection present where we will make a post wax removal medical referral for treatment.

We understand that an ear wax removal procedure can be daunting process for many so if you have any questions or reservations please don’t hesitate to call us and one of our highly trained audiologists will be happy to chat with you…..

Longer appointment times
2 highly qualified staff, working full time – means more appointment availability
Brand new micro-suction equipment
Multi-skilled clinicians (micro-suction, irrigation, physical removal)

A sign of dedication?

Hearing Aid Knowledge
I am typing this on Saturday evening. Tomorrow, Sunday, the 3 partners and our new Branch Manager are all meeting at The Pebley Inn near Balborough. We are meeting to discuss how we can get our powerful message out to the community. The message is HEARING AIDS ARE VERY INDIVIDUAL, SO EVERYONE NEEDS A TRIAL BEFORE THEY HAVE TO DECIDE.
We are a dedicated bunch of people but we do need your support. We do hope that if you do want to explore hearing aids, that you will come along and see us at BEESTON, WEST BRIDGFORD or RETFORD. We can also see you at home.
